Interventional Radiology
Interventional radiology utilizes diagnostic imaging procedures and combines them with a variety of techniques to treat tumors, blockages, bleeding, pain and other conditions. In these minimally invasive procedures, radiologists deliver therapeutic medication by injections or catheters using diagnostic imaging procedures to guide their placement. Interventional imaging offers an alternative for surgery for certain conditions, usually eliminating the need for hospitalization. CT scanning is a technology that is commonly used in interventional imaging.
